Chris Jack shares update on Steven Gerrard return as Rangers manager search not done
Steven Gerrard has been in the headlines as Rangers look for a new manager to succeed Russell Martin.
The Scottish manager lasted just 123 days in the Gers’ dugout, and now Andrew Cavenagh and Paraag Marathe have taken the reins at Ibrox as they look for a replacement.
Gerrard has been touted as the obvious choice to replace Martin, with the Light Blues close to reaching an agreement with the Liverpool icon.
While it seems like the former England international is set to return to the Glaswegian outfit after four years, the search for a new manager isn’t done yet.

Steven Gerrard expected to be next Rangers manager
It would be surprising to see the Gers not hire Gerrard as their next manager, Chris Jack says.
The Scottish journalist expects the Liverpool icon to take the reins at Ibrox after leaving in 2021 for Aston Villa.
While everything suggests the Englishman will be back at the Light Blues, the process of looking for a new head coach isn’t over, as nothing is confirmed right now.
Speaking on The Rangers Review on 10 October, Jack said: “We expect Gerrard to be Rangers manager. I’d be surprised if Gerrard is not Rangers manager. But as it stands, it’s not sorted, not done.”

Jack added: “This process, this search is not done yet, but hopefully we’re approaching the final stages of it over the next couple of days.”
Jermain Defoe may be part of the new backroom staff at Ibrox, with the former striker suited up amid rumours.
Andrew Cavenagh sweats over Ibrox prospects
Cavenagh may have regretted letting Kevin Thelwell appoint Martin, and has now taken the initiative as the Gers look for a replacement.
When the US consortium completed their takeover at Rangers, they promised a return of success in G51, but that hasn’t been the case.

The Glaswegian outfit are eighth in the William Hill Premiership, and their prospects in the Europa League don’t look great after two back-to-back losses in the competition.
Gerrard’s name invokes a mixed reaction at the Light Blues, with some fans hailing him for winning the league title in the 2020-21 season, while others feel he didn’t do much considering the amount of money he spent, but Cavenagh will hope the appointment pays off, as he can’t afford another failure.
