Barry Ferguson reacts as Steven Gerrard appointment imminent at Rangers
Barry Ferguson knows a thing or two about being Rangers manager, just like Steven Gerrard.
Russell Martin’s failures at Ibrox saw him get the sack, and the Gers are now in search of a new head coach to fill the vacancy in the dugout.
Gerrard is close to reaching an agreement at Ibrox, with Andrew Cavenagh and Paraag Marathe working on the Liverpool icon’s return to G51.
The mood around the Glaswegian outfit isn’t the best right now, and it remains to be seen whether the Englishman can turn things around if he’s appointed.

Steven Gerrard right manager for Rangers
Barry Ferguson would be fully behind Gerrard’s return to the Gers as a replacement for Martin.
The Light Blues’ former interim manager believes the Ibrox dugout needs to be filled with someone who recognises the task at hand, and the Liverpool icon certainly fits that bill.
Ferguson feels the Glaswegian outfit are in need of a head coach who can allay the frustration among fans, something the ex-England midfielder has done before.
The Gers icon wrote in the Daily Record on 10 October: “Right now, at this particular moment in time, my old club is crying out for a manager who connects with the support and, like them, truly understands what Rangers is all about.”

Ferguson added: “And that’s why I’m fully behind the decision to sit down with Gerrard in London and to work out if a deal can be done to bring him back up the road for a second stint.”
Gerrard is the obvious choice at Ibrox, considering he’s won the league title before as the Gers manager.
Steven Gerrard to be confident of winning league title at Ibrox
Gerrard’s interest in the challenge at Ibrox is encouraging, and it wouldn’t be surprising to hear him say that the William Hill Premiership isn’t out of the Light Blues’ hands.
Rangers are nine points behind Celtic and 11 points behind Hearts, but it looks set to be a season where surprises could potentially pop up.

Brendan Rodgers’ team haven’t been anywhere near their best, and Derek McInnes’ team will be expected to have a dip later in the campaign.
With several points still to play for, Gerrard will undoubtedly feel the chance to win 56 this season may be on.
