‘I think Steven Gerrard will go to Rangers after what happened in interview’ – Rio Ferdinand
Rio Ferdinand has claimed in no uncertain terms that Steven Gerrard would jump at the chance to become the next Rangers manager.
The Liverpool icon enjoyed a fruitful spell at the Gers, winning the league title in the 2020-21 season, although fans in G51 have mixed feelings about him due to the money spent during his tenure.
Russell Martin saw his tenure at Ibrox end in bitter fashion, having to leave with a police escort in a private car instead of the team bus after the 1-1 draw against Falkirk.
Gerrard recently spoke with Ferdinand about wanting to return to management, and the Manchester United icon thinks the Glaswegian outfit could potentially be his next destination.

Rio Ferdinand felt Steven Gerrard ready for Rangers return after interview
While interviewing Gerrard, Ferdinand felt that the Liverpool icon would jump at the chance to manage the Gers.
The former English defender believes the ex-midfielder is itching to return to management amid links of a return to Ibrox.
Ferdinand wouldn’t be surprised to see Gerrard at least have a conversation with the Glaswegian outfit about replacing Martin, and it remains to be seen who will fill the vacancy in G51.
Speaking on talkSPORT on 8 October, the Englishman said: “I have to say, when I interviewed him, he left me in no uncertain terms that he wants to be a manager, and he’s got full confidence in doing that. He’s itching to get back in now.”

Ferdinand added: “He never said this to me, but I personally think just the energy I felt in that room, if Rangers came calling, that he’d go or at least have that conversation.”
Now, all Andrew Cavenagh should do is get on a call with Gerrard and try to convince him that the project under the American ownership is the right fit for the former midfielder.
Steven Gerrard frontrunner for Ibrox vacancy
Sky Sports has reported that Gerrard is open to talks at Ibrox, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see the conversations progress quickly in the coming days.
Cavenagh and Paraag Marathe have the international break to sort out the mess at Rangers.

Supporters expected to see the Gers turn the tide and challenge for titles under the new ownership, but that hasn’t been the case so far.
It feels like the Liverpool icon is a no-brainer option for the Glaswegian outfit, considering his past success in G51, but only time will tell how the situation will unfold.
