‘I know for a fact Steven Gerrard interested in Rangers, but it’s complex’
Steven Gerrard could potentially make his return to Rangers if things fall in place after Russell Martin was sacked on Sunday.
Martin took charge of his final game against Falkirk on 5 October, with the 1-1 draw apparently the final straw for Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises.
Gerrard’s return to Ibrox has dominated headlines since, and the international break gives the Gers’ hierarchy plenty of time to vet the Scottish manager’s successor in G51.
While the Liverpool icon will certainly have fond memories of his time managing the Glaswegian outfit, it remains to be seen whether he can be persuaded.

Darrell Currie wonders whether Steven Gerrard will want to work under current Rangers board
Gerrard is absolutely interested in taking over the Gers after Martin was relieved of his duties, Darrell Currie says.
The TNT sports reporter revealed that he knows for a fact that the Englishman would be open to sitting in the hot seat at Ibrox again.
While the Liverpool icon may be excited to work under the new ownership at the Glaswegian outfit, it remains to be seen whether he will be willing to work with the likes of Kevin Thelwell and Patrick Stewart.
Speaking on the Scottish Football Social Club on 6 October, Currie said: “I know for a fact that Gerrard is interested in returning to Rangers. I think the two questions are now, apparently, it’s complex. We know there are some tax issues.
“I think they would be making sure the family would be happy with this as well. He’s had a massive change in his life where they’re living at the moment. But he would be interested in a return. I know that for absolute sure.”

Currie added: “I do wonder, knowing what I’ve just said, would Gerrard be willing to walk back into the football club? He would be excited by the ownership and the potential to maybe spend more money long-term than the first time around. Would he be willing to work with the current people in the board? That’s what I don’t know.”
Steven Gerrard appointment a no-brainer at Ibrox
Gerrard’s return to Ibrox should be a no-brainer for the current hierarchy, given the turmoil they’ve experienced under the former Southampton boss, with fan rage boiling over.
Rangers should’ve ideally sacked Martin a few weeks back to avoid the situation they find themselves in currently with the fanbase, as many have held protests outside Ibrox.

Gerrard could potentially bring stability back to the Gers and help rebuild a title-winning team, as he did previously, ending the 10-year wait for a league trophy in G51.
Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises also find themselves in a position where they must get the next managerial appointment right or risk losing the faith of supporters at the Glaswegian outfit, which could be detrimental to them.
