Rangers new manager: Sean Dyche to turn tide after latest developments at Ibrox

Rangers finally made the decision to sack Russell Martin on Sunday night.

Martin was shown the door by Rangers in what can only be seen as the correct decision by the Ibrox board on 5 October.

Rangers drew 1-1 with Falkirk just hours before, as the Englishman once again failed to get the best out of the Gers in the Scottish Premiership.

Martin required a police escort at Falkirk as Light Blues supporters blocked the team coach after the full-time whistle.

The door is now open for a new head coach to replace Martin, with Sean Dyche representing a potentially ideal alternative at this stage of the campaign.

Sean Dyche could replace Russell Martin at Rangers

There is no doubt that the ex-Southampton boss deserved to be moved on after slumping to eighth in the table after seven games.

Andrew Cavenagh, Paraag Marathe and Co. have run out of patience and are now on the search for a new man to lead the Govan club forward.

Dyche could be the man for Rangers after being without a job since being replaced by David Moyes at Everton back in January.

The Englishman has a proven track record of improving teams and maximising their potential.

The 54-year-old was able to carry Burnley all the way to the Europa League, despite a lack of financial backing, proving just how excellent his credentials are.

He may have a more pragmatic approach than the Ibrox faithful are looking for, but at this stage, points on the board are the most important thing.

Dyche is famed for doing whatever he can to do exactly that, something that could stand him in good stead to take over in G51.

Martin was never truly what supporters wanted, and it is fair to say that a similar sentiment may surround the former Burnley boss.

Dyche may not be the flashiest of names, but there is a good chance he would be able to turn things around with his man-management and no-nonsense nature.

The Englishman is likely to be in the running alongside the likes of Danny Rohl and Steven Gerrard, but he could prove to be the best option of the three.

It will be interesting to see which avenue the Light Blues hierarchy takes and what that means for the future of the Light Blues.
