Barry Ferguson responds to accepting Rangers job after Russell Martin sack
Barry Ferguson could potentially emerge as a candidate at Rangers after Russell Martin was sacked.
Martin was shown the door after the 1-1 draw against Falkirk on 5 October, and the Gers now enter the international break in search of a new head coach.
The Ibrox faithful may want to see Ferguson back in the dugout, with the former Scotland international having been denied the opportunity in the summer to become the permanent manager after his interim spell.
With the situation among the fanbase toxic, just like it was during Phillipe Clement’s final days, Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises have a massive decision to make in G51.

Rangers job doesn’t appeal Barry Ferguson
Ferguson isn’t interested in replacing Martin at the Gers after a poor start to the season.
The ex-midfielder admits that he enjoyed his managerial spell at Ibrox, but isn’t thinking about it right now.
It looks like the Glaswegian outfit’s icon doesn’t fancy the role at the moment, with the turmoil in G51 intensifying under the new ownership.
Speaking on the Go Radio Football Show on 6 October, Ferguson said: “No [I’m not interested in the job]. I am here, and I am in a good place at the moment. I am enjoying what I am doing. I had a great three months last year, but that’s in the past.
“I am back doing my ambassador role, here [on the radio] and doing my column, so my life is good at this moment in time.”

It looks like Cavenagh will have to contact Steven Gerrard to turn things around at the Light Blues, with the Englishman tasting success in his previous managerial spell.
Barry Ferguson reacts to Russell Martin sack at Ibrox
Ferguson also lamented Martin’s sacking at Ibrox, saying: “It was sad to see that happen, obviously. But at the end of the day, the results have not been good enough, and the club made their decision late last night.”
“You never like to see anybody lose their job, but I think Russell himself would admit he didn’t get enough wins in those 17 games. The thing I am now interested in is that Rangers have to make sure they get the right man for the job now.”

It wasn’t surprising to see the former Southampton boss getting the boot at the Gers as the writing was on the wall after consistently poor performances both domestically and in Europe.
With the Light Blues sitting eighth in the William Hill Premiership and their prospects in the Europa League looking bleak after losses to Genk and Sturm Graz, it was high time Cavenagh took the reins and did what needed to be done.
