This manager could take over as Rangers to sack Russell Martin

Russell Martin looks set to be on the way out of Rangers after a disastrous reign at Ibrox.

The Gers manager has been awful in the dugout, with the Glaswegians currently stuck in eighth in the Scottish Premiership.

After another shocking performance on Sunday in the 1-1 draw with Falkirk, Martin was seen being escorted by the police amid Rangers sack speculation.

Now, the former Ibrox loanee’s time at the Gers looks set to end, with a replacement no doubt needed.

Russell Martin set for Rangers sack with Steven Gerrard contender to take over

Reports emerged on Sunday that Martin’s future at Rangers was in doubt after the draw with Falkirk.

Now, this looks set to become a reality, with Sky Sports Scotland announcing via X on 5 October that the manager is expected to be sacked by Monday.

This would make it the shortest-ever managerial spell in Rangers’ history, in what has been a terrible few months.

Amidst this news, Alex Crook has also reported via X on 5 October that Steven Gerrard is a potential replacement for the former Southampton boss.

The Liverpool legend won the Scottish Premiership title with the Gers in 2021, and it would no doubt be a sensational return for the former manager.

Gerrard could steady the ship at Rangers

There is no question that Rangers need someone to get the fans back on the side of the club.

While Gerrard did have his faults at Ibrox, there is no doubt he is the best manager they have had since their return to the Scottish Premiership.

If Rangers can pull off his appointment, it could help revive what has been a torrid campaign.

Hopefully, if Martin is sacked, a deal can be done before the end of the international break.

It was later confirmed on Sunday that Martin had been let go after the Falkirk draw.
