James Tavernier to have Russell Martin showdown talks at Rangers after what’s been said

Russell Martin looks out of his depth at Rangers as James Tavernier must step in.

Sturm Graz beat Martin’s team at Merkur-Arena on 2 October, which has led to further scrutiny of the Scottish manager in G51.

The Light Blues were all over the place in the first half of the Europa League fixture, conceding two goals before the break in rather embarrassing fashion.

Ally McCoist destroyed Martin’s team’s defensive performance in the 2-1 loss, with the first goal coming from the Glaswegian outfit’s throw-in and the second a result of a ridiculously defensive high line during the Austrian outfit’s set-piece.

Russell Martin throws Rangers players under the bus after Sturm Graz defeat

Martin once again blamed the players’ mentality after the Gers lost to Sturm Graz.

Tam McManus isn’t pleased to see the former Southampton boss not take the responsibility for his team’s performance against the Austrian outfit away from Ibrox, subsequently throwing players under the bus.

The Scottish manager blamed the Light Blues’ defenders after conceding the two goals in the first half, seemingly shifting the entire blame for the defeat.

Speaking on PLZ Soccer on 3 October, McManus said: “One thing from that statement is he’s taking zero blame. He’s washed his hands of anything. Usually, a manager comes out and says, ‘I picked the team, it’s on me.’ He’s not doing that now, everything is on the players. He’s throwing them under the bus every single week.”

Tavernier should have a long and hard conversation with Martin, as the Scottish manager risks losing the dressing room if he continues to scapegoat the players.

Max Aarons blames fans for poor performances under Russell Martin

Max Aarons has suggested the Ibrox faithful aren’t helping the cause, with the bitter mood among the fanbase affecting the team.

It’s baffling to see the supporters get blamed, as they have every right to demand an end to Martin’s woeful spell in G51.

Fans can’t be expected to keep their mouths shut as they see their team descend into something unrecognisable under the Scottish manager.

Rangers fans have been demanding Martin’s sacking for several weeks now, and this demand will continue as long as decision-makers at Ibrox fail to acknowledge their mistake.
