Rangers fans to rage as Russell Martin to keep job despite Sturm Graz disaster

Russell Martin should’ve stayed back in Austria after Rangers lost 2-1 to Sturm Graz in the Europa League.

Martin’s team conceded two cheap goals at Merkur-Arena and were unable to make a comeback despite Djejdi Gassama’s early goal in the second half.

It was baffling to see the Gers concede in the seventh minute from their own throw-in, and then the defensive high line for Sturm Graz’s set-piece that led to the second goal was detrimental.

Andrew Cavenagh should’ve acted and sacked Martin after the full-time whistle, but it looks like the Glaswegian outfit have no intention of doing that anytime soon.

Russell Martin to take charge of Rangers against Falkirk

It looks like Martin will be in charge of the Gers against Falkirk despite the disastrous loss to Sturm Graz.

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the game against the Bairns will be an “important” one for the Scottish manager, suggesting he will be in the dugout in FK2.

While the journalist has admitted that the current scenario isn’t ideal for the Glaswegian outfit due to fan discontent, it remains to be seen how long he will survive at Ibrox.

Romano wrote in GiveMeSport on 3 October: “It’s gonna be important for sure, as the situation is getting hard also with the fans.”

Andrew Cavenagh to be targeted by fans at Ibrox next

Andrew Cavenagh risks falling out of favour with the Ibrox faithful if he continues to back the current management, which clearly isn’t working.

While it makes sense to give the new recruits time to settle in, it has become clear in recent weeks that changes are needed in G51.

Kevin Thelwell should also leave with Martin, but it doesn’t look like the Glaswegian outfit have any intentions of looking for replacements.

Rangers are struggling in the William Hill Premiership, and their chances of qualification to the knockout stages of the Europa League have taken a big dent.

It’s a shame to see the Gers getting worse day by day, and the former Southampton boss has failed to learn from his mistakes, which should be grounds for his dismissal.
