Hamza Igamane and Ianis Hagi respond as Nicolas Raskin sends Rangers message

Nicolas Raskin made a successful return to the Rangers team against Hibernian after a few weeks in exile.

Russell Martin astonishingly dropped Raskin from his squad after a reported fallout, and Rangers suffered as they failed to score in two league games without him.

Raskin returned against Hibernian and scored on his comeback, which put even more egg on Martin’s face as Rangers fans took the midfielder’s side of the battle.

The Belgium International has now sent a message after his brilliant return to the team, and two former teammates have now had their say.

Nicolas Raskin grateful after Rangers comeback

Raskin rejected offers from Turkey during his exile as he was determined to win his Rangers place back, and fans are delighted to see him back.

Ally McCoist has even claimed that Raskin should be made captain, given his importance to the side as the best player in the team.

The midfielder has now taken to Instagram following his goal against Hibs, and admitted that he was grateful to be back on the pitch in the Royal blue shirt.

“One step at a time. So good to be back. Big thanks to my teammates and to the fans for the amazing support,” he posted.

Former striker Hamza Igamane commented his chant “La la la la, Nico Raskin,” after leaving for Lille, while Ianis Hagi, who left for free at the end of last season, commented “Mentality”.

Russell Martin cannot drop Nicolas Raskin again

Raskin brings defensive solidity as well as a goal threat and a spark of energy in midfield that Rangers otherwise lack, and it is clear that he cannot be dropped again.

Rangers fans were furious with Martin when Raskin was initially dropped, with fans at Ibrox chanting his name, and bringing him back has eased a little bit of the pressure on the under-fire manager.

The midfielder has less than two years on his contract, and a future sale looks likely, but Rangers will need to maximise the value they receive for one of the best players to have graced Ibrox in recent years, if and when he does depart.
