Nicolas Raskin exit twist emerges at Rangers as two late transfer bids lodged

Rahul Lakhani

Rahul has covered Rangers on Ibrox News since joining Breaking Media in March 2025. He has previously written for Goalkeeper.com, Planet Football, Snack Media, GRV Media and others since graduating from the University of Edinburgh in 2021. During his time in Edinburgh, Rahul would regularly trek across to Glasgow to watch Rangers in action at Ibrox, during the days of Pedro Caixinha and Steven Gerrard's managerial spells.

Rangers fans are furious at Russell Martin and his treatment of Nicolas Raskin.

Raskin is arguably Rangers' best player, but has been absent from the matchday squad for the last two games after a public feud with Martin.

Rangers are winless in the Scottish Premiership under Martin, while Raskin started and scored for Belgium during the international break, in a damning indictment of how the manager is failing at Ibrox.

The midfielder could have left during the summer transfer window, but Raskin expressed his desire to stay at Rangers and fight for his place, and new information over a potential transfer has now emerged.

Nicolas Raskin turned down Turkish offers to stay at Rangers

It has now emerged that Raskin could have left Ibrox after the Scottish transfer window shut to move to Turkiye.

The transfer window in Turkiye remained open a few days longer than in Scotland, and Belgian outlet Vouetbalnieuws has now reported that Raskin turned down offers from Besiktas and Fenerbahce.

Raskin had no intention of playing in Turkiye and wanted to stay at Rangers and fight for his place, and it was the player, rather than the club, who rejected the offers from the two Turkish giants.

The 24-year-old has been backed by Rangers fans, who chanted his name while booing Martin at Ibrox, and it is clear that they would sooner see the manager sacked rather than the midfielder sold.

Rangers have to bring Nicolas Raskin back in

If Martin is to spark any sort of return to form at Rangers, Raskin simply has to come back in, as the best midfielder and player at the club.

Mohamed Diomande was woeful in Rangers' defeat to Hearts, and it is abundantly clear that Raskin would take the midfield up a level.

Martin is also making an already angry fanbase even more furious with his treatment of Raskin, and this will come back to bite him hard if there are yet more dropped points with the Belgian still left out in the cold for inferior players.
