‘Unreal’ Marcelo Bielsa to Rangers claim made as fans besiege Andrew Cavenagh over Russell Martin
Rangers’ owners are under severe pressure to sack Russell Martin.
Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises have been called to relieve Martin of his duties, following the woeful start to the season.
Martin now has the worst points-per-game rate of any permanent Rangers manager in history, with fans visibly frustrated by the situation.
Rangers CEO Patrick Stewart is also under pressure, having been the man who appointed Martin as manager in the summer.
Many names have been mentioned as a potential replacement, including an intriguing former Premier League boss.

Marcelo Bielsa would be ‘unreal’ as Rangers manager
Many high-profile names, such as Jose Mourinho, have been linked with the Rangers job if Martin were to be sacked.
Marcelo Bielsa has now been mentioned as a potential replacement for the Scot, with his tenure seemingly coming to an end.
Speaking on the Keeping the Ball on the Ground Podcast, Simon Ferry mentioned Bielsa in relation to the Rangers job, saying he would be “unreal”.
Describing the Argentine as a “pioneer of the game”, the former Dundee midfielder seemed enthralled by the prospect of him at Ibrox.
Bielsa is currently in charge of the Uruguay national team, recently securing qualification to the FIFA World Cup next summer.
Rangers owners would be smart to appoint Marcelo Bielsa
Cavenagh has backed Martin for now, but that position could change if results remained the same.
Bielsa would represent a massive coup for Rangers if he were to appear in Glasgow.
The former Leeds manager has a brilliantly exciting brand of football and has been an influential figure for many of the modern coaching greats.
Career Stats | Marcelo Bielsa |
Teams managed | 13 |
Games | 767 |
Trophies | 5 |
Bielsa also has the personality to shine at Ibrox, and his way of playing football will really excite Rangers fans.
While it is unlikely, Bielsa is the type of name the Rangers hierarchy should be looking at to replace Martin.
