Rangers biggest embarrassment emerges after zero accountability at Ibrox
Russell Martin is taking Rangers down a dark path under the ownership of Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises.
The Gers are sitting 10th in the table after losing to Hearts in the William Hill Premiership at Ibrox on 13 September, and face the prospect of being bottom before their next league match.
As things stand, the Light Blues are nine points behind Celtic and Hearts after failing to win any of their five game in the Scottish top flight.
Martin’s sacking feels inevitable at Ibrox, but the Scottish manager may have already done lasting damage in G51 in the current campaign.

Celtic handed fifth league title by Rangers
Celtic could potentially be on course to be crowned Scottish Championship for the fifth consecutive time, Scott McDermott says.
The Daily Record journalist is disappointed to see a lack of accountability at Ibrox from the decision-makers after a poor start to the season, but the “biggest embarrassment” is possibly handing the Hoops the league title after just five fixtures.
Cavenagh and the 49ers had promised to turn things around quickly at the Glaswegian outfit, but they’re arguably in a deeper hole than last season.
- Martin has a win rate of 25 per cent at the Gers.
- The Light Blues have suffered their worst start to the season in 47 years.
- The Scottish manager also oversaw the Glaswegian outfit’s joint-worst defeat in Europe against Club Brugge.
McDermott wrote in the Daily Record on 16 September: “But you know what the biggest embarrassment really is, when it comes to accountability? The fact that Rangers, as a club, have literally just gift-wrapped a fifth successive title for their biggest rivals after only five games.
“A year ago, amidst their stadium shambles and budget cut-backs, the league was given up virtually before a ball was kicked. That simply couldn’t be allowed to happen again. But 12 months on, it has. The new American owners vowed to become Scotland’s top club again, and quickly. Martin claimed he had to win while he built. None of it has materialised.”

Russell Martin has no way back at Ibrox after what’s happened
Derek Cornelius found the back of the net against Hearts when the scoreline was 1-0, which Steven McLean ruled out, but VAR should’ve intervened.
Lawrence Shankland also admitted to handling the ball in the buildup to his first goal, while the penalty that led to the striker’s brace was arguably soft.
Despite some major controversial decisions from the officials, fans didn’t seem too bothered and instead were calling for a change in the dugout.
Rangers supporters have given up on Martin, and it’s high time the American owners realise he’s not the right man to lead the team forward.
