Rangers schedule Nicolas Raskin crisis talks as late transfer approaches made

Rangers star Nicolas Raskin has been linked with a deadline day exit, after a reported fallout with manager Russell Martin.

Raskin was Rangers’ best player last season, and has established himself as one of the best midfielders in the whole of Scotland.

Martin is under huge pressure after failing to win his first four Scottish Premiership games, and Rangers fans and players have been left baffled as Raskin has been in and out of the side.

It was recently reported that with English clubs interested, Martin could sell Raskin before the transfer deadline, in a move which would have further angered an already furious Rangers fanbase.

Nicolas Raskin set for Russell Martin talks

With just hours remaining in the transfer window, the potential for Raskin to leave Ibrox still remains, but there has not been an offer yet.

Chris Jack has now offered some positive news to Rangers fans, as he has now reported that Raskin is set to stay at the club, and will have talks with Martin over his role in the team.

Raskin was outstanding last season

Raskin has been called up to the Belgium squad for their upcoming international fixtures, and he will speak to Martin upon his return over potentially returning to the starting XI.

It is reported that there were enquiries made for Raskin from other clubs, but he is no longer expected to leave before the 11 pm deadline.

Raskin was left out of the squad for Rangers’ 0-0 draw with Celtic, in which the Ibrox faithful loudly chanted his name and booed Martin at full-time.

Rangers have to keep and start Nicolas Raskin

It is a ridiculous situation that a player of Raskin’s quality, and a Belgium International, cannot get into a side which has struggled under Martin.

Joe Rothwell and Kieron Dowell have both started in midfield under Martin, and both have been well below the required level, with Raskin remarkably overlooked for them.

The situation over the 24-year-old is one of many reasons why Rangers fans have not taken to Martin, and losing their star player as a result of this coach could have been the final straw for many supporters.

With Martin under huge pressure, there is now every chance that Raskin outlasts Martin at Ibrox, and fans will be relieved that he was not sold by the manager.
