Ridvan Yilmaz flying abroad to undergo medical as Ibrox exit timeline set
Ridvan Yilmaz appears to be on the verge of finalising his Rangers exit.
Yilmaz has been desperate to quit Rangers after not being a part of Russell Martin’s first-team plans this summer.
The left-back made 29 appearances in all competitions for Gers last season, but was plagued by injury issues.
Rangers want £2.6million to sell Yilmaz ahead of the transfer deadline amid interest from Turkey.

Ridvan Yilmaz to jet into Istanbul for medical
Ahead of Yilmaz finalising his Rangers exit, the 24-year-old will first undergo his medical.
Besiktas had reached an agreement to sign Yilmaz and the same was conveyed to the press by their president Serdal Adali.
While he claimed at the start of August that the deal would be completed in a few days, things appear to have taken longer.
| Club | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| Rangers | 77 | 2 | 6 |
| Besiktas | 62 | 4 | 7 |
However, everything appears to be in place for the Turkish full-back to join Besiktas.
According to Sports Digitale journalist Sercan Dikme on 22 August, Yilmaz will jet into Istanbul for his medical.
He will be arriving at 9:15pm BST, or 11:15pm local time, on Friday night in the Turkish capital.
Rangers should be happy with £2m+ fee for Ridvan Yilmaz
Rangers’ decision to sell Yilmaz is a pragmatic move, given his persistent fitness and form issues.
Since joining from Besiktas in 2022 for £3.4million plus add-ons, Yilmaz has struggled with recurring injuries, particularly thigh and hamstring problems.
Thus, any fee above £2million this summer should be welcomed by the Ibrox outfit.
His inconsistent availability has limited his impact, despite showing promise in brief spells.
Under Martin, Yilmaz has been excluded from key squads, like the UEFA Champions League qualifiers, signalling he’s surplus to requirements.
With a sell-on clause owed to Besiktas, securing over £2million mitigates financial loss while freeing up squad space and wages for more reliable players.
Given his injury record and lack of consistent form, this move allows Rangers to cut losses and reinvest in a more dependable left-back option.
