Nobel Mendy ready to touch down in Scotland as transfer documents await at Rangers
Rangers are ready to make Nobel Mendy their 10th signing of the summer.
Russell Martin‘s side needed fresh impetus, and the 49ers Enterprises and Andrew Cavanagh have delivered with nine new faces through the door so far in Govan.
The likes of Max Aarons and Joe Rothwell have been added to give Martin the best possible chance to overhaul Celtic.
Rangers have already agreed personal terms with Mendy over a move to Ibrox and have made rapid progress on a deal with Real Betis.

Rangers to seal Mendy deal after fee agreed
A fee has been agreed between the Scottish Premiership side and Real Betis, and Mendy should complete his transfer in the coming days.
Sky Sports journalist Sacha Tavolieri (12 August) reports that the Gers will pay £2.5million with a 20 per cent clause on any profit from a future sale.
He states that the 20-year-old is now waiting for documents and is expected to be in Scotland on 13 August to complete a medical and the formalities.
Mendy will be a great asset for Rangers
The Senegalese defender can play as a centre-back or at left-back, and that versatility can only be a positive for Martin and Co.
His physicality, standing at an imposing 6’2 and limited experience in La Liga make him a good option for the Light Blues in terms of their defensive depth.
- Made two appearances in La Liga last season for Betis
- Two UEFA Europa Conference League appearances to his name
- Yet to earn a cap for the Senegal national team
His versatility and left-footed nature mean that he could thrive in the ex-Southampton boss’ preferred 4-3-3 or 3-5-2 systems, depending on the opposition that they are facing.
John Souttar and Nasser Djiga seem to be the go-to partnership in Govan at the moment, but it is a long season, with plenty of matches in the league and the Champions League.
He should be integrated slowly, playing alongside one of the senior defensive options like Souttar to build his confidence, before becoming a starting option when he has fully adapted to the demands of Scottish football.
His ball-playing ability should fit in well with Martin’s tactical philosophy of bringing the ball out from the back, although concerns about his aerial duels and defensive positioning must be ironed out.
This one should get done quickly.
