Nobel Mendy wants Rangers move as 49ers close in on multi-million agreement – Exclusive
Rangers are close to agreeing a deal with Real Betis to sign defender Nobel Mendy, Ibrox News has learned.
Despite making several first-team signings this summer, the Gers continue to push in the market with weeks to go until the window slams shut.
Russell Martin wants another defender after his side’s dismal start to the domestic campaign.

Nobel Mendy likely to cost £5million
Ibrox News understands that Rangers will have to pay around £5million to secure the services of Mendy.
The 20-year-old centre-back is keen on moving to Ibrox, as reported by Sky journalist Sacha Tavolieri.
Sources tell Ibrox News that the two clubs are progressing in talks and are confident of reaching an agreement for the Senegalese defender.
The Light Blues have already roped in Max Aarons, Nasser Djiga and Emmanuel Fernandez over the past few weeks, but are continuing with their defensive overhaul.
Mendy, despite being a centre-back by trade, is capable of playing as a left-back as well.
Rangers are taking a gamble on Mendy
Rangers’ potential £5million investment in Mendy is a significant gamble due to the 20-year-old’s limited senior experience and unproven track record at the elite level.
With only six appearances for Real Betis, Mendy lacks the pedigree of other Gers signings like Nasser Djiga, who arrived with a league title and 14 Champions League games.

His modest CV raises concerns about his readiness for the Scottish Premiership’s physical and tactical demands, especially as Rangers need a reliable left-sided defender.
The £5million fee, high for a player with such minimal top-flight exposure, strains the Ibrox outfit’s finances, already burdened by a £17m loss in 2024.
While Mendy’s versatility as a left-back or centre-back offers potential, this is a high-risk signing for Martin’s squad.
