Kemar Roofe reveals fresh abuse over Rangers incident years ago
Former Rangers star Kemar Roofe is still receiving abuse for his sending-off against Slavia Prague in a Europa League knock-out game in 2021.
Roofe, 32, was banned for four European matches after a horror challenge on Ondrej Kolar left the Slavia goalkeeper with a fractured skull.
UEFA’s Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body accused the former West Brom and Leeds player of “dangerously assaulting another player” when he kung-fu-kicked Kolar in the head.
Kolar had to be stretchered off the pitch in the ill-tempered game at Ibrox, leading to a torrent of abuse being sent to Roofe.

Roofe and Kamara racially abused after Slavia game
Rangers’ defeat to Slavia in March 2021 was a sickening one in more than one way.
While it was Roofe’s dangerous challenge on Kolar that made most of the headlines in the game, ex-Rangers star Glen Kamara claimed he was racially abused at full-time by Slavia’s Ondrej Kudela.
Roofe was then racially abused on Instagram, with numerous Czech accounts sending him monkey and banana emojis and using derogatory, race-related language.
- Roofe was sent off six minutes into the Europa League clash v Slavia Prague on 18 March 2021.
- Czech goalkeeper Kolar had to be stretchered off after being kicked in the head.
- Ex-Liverpool star Vladimir Smicer called it a “life-threatening moment”.
- Kolar suffered a fractured skull and Roofe was banned for four UEFA matches.
Unfortunately, even though it’s been four years since the Europa League incident, the former Ibrox star is still receiving abuse.
Roofe took to his Instagram story on Wednesday (31 July) to reveal a private message sent to him by a user simply called ‘radim’.
This user wished death upon the former Gers star and his family, adding: “Slavia Prague, do you remember? Karma will find you.”

Where is Roofe now after leaving Ibrox last year
Roofe spent four years on the books at Rangers, scoring 38 goals and supplying seven assists in 102 appearances across all competitions.
Unfortunately, his spell in Scotland was marred by injury issues and he was eventually released at the end of his contract in the summer of 2024.
- Roofe won the Scottish Premiership, Scottish Cup and Scottish League Cup at Ibrox.
- He then helped the Gers reach the 2021/22 Europa League final, which they lost v Frankfurt.
- Roofe left Govan last year.
Derby signed Roofe after an eight-month-long search for a new club.
However, he had more injury issues at Pride Park and was released again at the end of last season after appearing just three times for the Rams.
