Rangers star Kemar Roofe shares racist abuse on Instagram
Rangers star Kemar Roofe has shared a wave of racist abuse that has been sent to him on Instagram.
It’s not the first time the 28-year-old has suffered this as in the aftermath of the 2-0 defeat to Slavia Prague, he was also sent similar messages via the social media platform.
On Saturday, Roofe took to his Instagram story to share private messages he’d received from a number of accounts. Below are censored screenshots of some of the messages Roofe received, in which he’s called a monkey and the N-word is repeatedly used.

Roofe also posted on his Instagram account, saying: “I wonder if you tag Instagram [and] Europa League in the comments they will see it and take notice?”
Do. Something. Instagram.
How is this happening so often now?
It seems as though every week a black player in the UK is racially abused on social media and it’s usually by anonymous accounts.
On Saturday, after West Brom beat Chelsea, Callum Robinson was racially abused by an anonymous account with the Premier League strugglers reporting the abuse to the police.
Kamara was alleged to have been racially abused during the match against Slavia by Ondrej Kudela and the pure trash being spouted by the Czech club and their fans since has been appalling.

And it seems that their failure to even acknowledge Kamara could have been racially abused by one of their players has opened up a sad story for players like Roofe.
Unfortunately, some of the accounts Roofe showed messages from are people based in the Czech Republic. Another one has SKS in his handle, which means Sportovní klub Slavia.
You have to think that if Slavia didn’t have such a steadfast stance in defending Kudela, things might have been different for Roofe.
In other Rangers news, the Gers are in hot pursuit of this Merseyside-born midfielder who Steven Gerrard wants in the summer.
