Rangers to negotiate Robin Propper deal amid ‘complicated’ compensation – Exclusive
This article includes exclusive comment from football finance expert Dr Dan Plumley.
Russell Martin will have learned much about his Rangers side from pre-season and his first competitive victory at Ibrox.
There have been a wealth of new signings in Glasgow, with Djeide Gassama bagging his first Rangers goal against Panathinaikos.
However, there has been significant talks of exits too, with Cyriel Dessers and Hamza Igamane linked with an exit.
Another player whom Martin seemingly wants out the door is Robin Propper, but there have been difficulties moving him on.

Propper to Twente explained
FC Twente have been working on a deal to re-sign Propper, who he only left on a permanent deal last season.
However, Twente are struggling to match Propper’s contract demands, meaning the Dutchman has remained at Ibrox.
Now, football finance expert Dan Plumley – speaking exclusively to Ibrox News – has provided insight on the proposed deal.
“It could take multiple forms,” he said.
“Again, it will come down to negotiation and what’s already in the contract and the compensation and how that works.
“If you’re Rangers looking at that internally, you might offer that to cover the difference in one hit, you might cover the difference in installment terms; it really just depends on how they want to approach it.
“There’s no fixed model to work from. It all comes down to the negotiation points, and that’ll be what they’ll be looking at internally as to how they want to structure that particular price.
“But, it could be upfront, could be in installments, very similar to transfer fees in general. Is it literally just the difference between the rest of his contract for what he would have earned?
“Again, that’s what you’d be aiming at, but these things, when it gets a little bit more complicated with these kinds of moves and the compensation aspect, it could be a negotiation for that to be a little bit lower or a proportion of that.
“You’ve got all parties involved there as well, and the player, of course, so my understanding would be to cover the difference, but it doesn’t always work like that; it really does come down to negotiation.”

Propper likely to leave Ibrox as Rangers move on
While it has been difficult to reach an agreement, there is plenty of time for Propper to leave Glasgow.
The 31-year-old has featured in pre-season, but failed to impress in Rangers’ 2-2 draw with Club Brugge.
Propper was not included in Martin’s Champions League squad against Panathinaikos and will surely be out the door soon.
