Rangers v Panathinaikos weather: Met Office issues warning, postponement assessed
Rangers are set to face Panathinaikos in the first leg of their Champions League qualifier on Tuesday.
The Light Blues are preparing to welcome the Greek side to Ibrox on 22 July in a huge first competitive match of the campaign.
A negative result could immediately see pressure pile on Russell Martin, especially after missing out on qualification for Europe’s elite competition last campaign.
With that being said, there is a chance that the clash in Govan could be under threat as a weather warning looks set to cause havoc across the UK.

Rangers v Panathinaikos faces postponement risk
It is fair to say that the new head coach is going to have a decision on his hands over the starting 11 after a busy window of signings to this point.
The most recent addition of Djeidi Gassama will raise new questions, especially with the depth of attacking options already available.
These decisions will be huge given how much is riding on the clash against the Super League outfit in the two-legged clash.
As a result, any distractions from the tie against Panathinaikos will want to be avoided at all costs as matchday edges ever closer.
Martin is unlikely to be impressed now as the Met Office have now put out a two-day weather warning across England and Scotland of thunderstorms on Sunday (20 July) and Monday (21 July).
The warning reports, “Heavy showers and scattered thunderstorms may cause some localised flooding and transport disruption.”
As it stands, there are no reports in place for Tuesday (22 July) for the Ibrox clash, meaning postponement appears to be off the cards for now.

Met Office warning unlikely to effect Rangers
There is no getting away from the size of the clash, with the weather hopefully having little bearing on the game and the result.
No excuses will sit well with the supporters in Govan, especially from Martin, who has taken over from the brutally honest Barry Ferguson.
It will certainly be interesting to see how the rain and storms could affect the Light Blues, if anything, this could benefit the ex-Southampton man’s passing style of play.
