Rangers summer signing Djeidi Gassama has been revealed to be clueless about the Old Firm rivalry.

The Gers announced the signing of the 21-year-old from Sheffield Wednesday on 15 July as an agreement over a four-year deal was reached.

The Frenchman looks set to represent a positive addition under Russell Martin as the head coach continues to refresh his squad in Govan.

With that being said, the Ibrox faithful may be shocked to learn that the ex-PSG youngster is unaware of the fierce rivalry with Celtic.

Gassama clueless about Old Firm rivalry

It is fair to say that the G51 faithful were excited to confirm the signing of the versatile attacker after a positive campaign with the Owls.

With that being said, they may not be so impressed to learn of his antics ahead of his debut campaign in the Scottish Premiership.

This comes after the winger was revealed to have worn a Boston Celtics shirt in negotiations ahead of his summer move to the Gers.

The Scottish Sun reported (19 July) that the 21-year-old met with Martin at St George's Park for talks as the Englishman held a training camp.

Despite being involved in negotiations, the Frenchman is said to have had no time to change from his casual clothing, which happened to be a Boston Celtics shirt.

This is hugely ironic, of course, due to the hatred from the Light Blues for their Old Firm rivals, something which Gassama had absolutely no idea about before signing his four-year deal.

Gassama could thrive at Rangers

It may be a source of frustration to some fans, but the fact that the wideman is unaware of the derby could prove to be a boost for his spell in G51.

There will be no pressure on his shoulders moving forward into the league season, something that can only represent a boost.

Martin will be hoping to get the best out of Gassama alongside fellow new signing Thelo Aasgaard in attacking areas moving forward into the campaign.
