Coady deal ‘could still go ahead’ for Rangers amid latest news from Leicester
Rangers had hoped to complete a deal that would see Conor Coady arrive at Ibrox this summer.
The centre-half is among targets for new head coach Russell Martin, who is hoping to refresh his squad ahead of the Scottish Premiership’s return.
The Gers have already made several signings, with Djeidi Gassama the latest arrival after the winger signed on a permanent deal from Championship club Sheffield Wednesday.

Coady deal still on for Rangers
Coady was identified by Martin as an experienced presence who could serve as a leader in the Rangers dressing room, while still holding genuine quality.
Although the Glasgow club had looked to be advancing on their interest in the Englishman, talks look to have stalled in recent weeks.
But, according to MailOnline (July 18), the move could still go ahead.
Rangers approached Leicester City about a move for the defender two weeks ago, but are yet to follow up officially, according to the report.
The interest still remains, however, and unless new Foxes boss Marti Cifuentes intervenes, Coady could still make the switch.
The former Liverpool centre-half was a regular for Leicester in the second half of last season, as the, then Ruud van Nistelrooy-led, team fell to relegation from the Premier League.
Coady, 32, enjoyed years of regular football in England’s top division in the years prior, for Wolves initially, and then Everton in the 2022/23 season.
Amassing nearly 200 Premier League appearances, Coady also made his way into the England squad, his leadership proving key for Gareth Southgate’s squad at the 2020 Euros.
Coady leadership could be key for young Rangers defence
The departure of Leon Balogun and, expected, departure of Robin Propper have left a role for a leading centre-back in the Rangers defence.
Coady could provide exactly what is required to young defensive talents Nasser Djiga and Emmanuel Fernandez, who are hoping to become key at Ibrox this season.
With over 500 professional games to his name, Coady has been the young up-and-comer, at Liverpool and Wolves, and the experienced head at Leicester, and Everton.
His presence within the dressing room could give Martin a second voice to the younger players, and for what should be a relatively cheap deal, his leadership could prove vital.
