Rangers transfer round up: Raskin wanted in Spain as new medical booked abroad

Rangers are showing no signs of slowing down in this summer’s transfer window.

Russell Martin has finalised several new signings, and there could be more on the way soon, with Djeidi Gassama the latest through the door.

Despite some drama, Conor Coady could be next as he attempts to get out of Leicester to make the move north of the border to Ibrox.

Rangers look to sign another Sheffield Wednesday star

The Light Blues are in the market for a goalkeeper, although they haven’t made much progress on that front.

That could change as Martin eyes young Sheffield Wednesday star Pierce Charles.

Charles broke into the Owls’ first team last season and has shown real promise, considering he’s still only 19 years old.

Rangers had previously approached Wednesday with the intention of bidding for Charles, but their asking price was deemed to be too high.

That may now have changed, considering the Championship club’s financial woes, which helped Gassama seal his move to Govan.

Josh Windass could join Rangers on a free transfer

Josh Windass is another Sheffield Wednesday player who has been on the Ibrox radar for a while.

It could be a lot easier to sign him now that Windass’s Owls contract has been terminated.

Under EFL rules, Wednesday players are free to terminate their contracts as they have been paid late three times this calendar year, with a transfer embargo also in place at Hillsborough.

Sheffield Wednesday confirmed on Thursday (17 July) that Windass and Michael Smith have chosen to take up that option.

Real Betis are preparing to bid for Nicolas Raskin

Nicolas Raskin has been linked with a move away from Ibrox all summer, although Martin has spoken highly of him in recent days.

Rangers’ resolve could soon be tested, though, as Real Betis are reportedly planning a £8.6million transfer swoop for the Belgian.

This fee would help to fund some additional signings, although Rangers will be expected to hold out for a higher bid.

Gers set to miss out on Metinho

Brazilian midfield maestro Metinho has been on the Rangers’ watch list, but this is another target they now seem likely to miss out on.

The Troyes star was labelled as a potential replacement for Raskin if he were to be sold.
