Coventry could hijack Rangers new signing as Ibrox deal collapses
Rangers and Russell Martin have brought in numerous faces so far this transfer window.
The 49ers have fully backed their new manager with eight new additions coming into Ibrox.
The most recent was Djeidi Gassama who joined Rangers from Sheffield Wednesday after a successful spell in the Championship.
The Gers are not expected to stop here, with multiple other names being linked with a move to the Glaswegians this summer.
However, Martin has not been able to secure all of his targets so far this summer.

Carl Rushworth to Rangers is off
Rangers had been heavily linked to Carl Rushworth over the past week.
The Brighton goalkeeper has been at the Seagulls since 2019, but has struggled to break into the first-team.
During his time at the South Coast club, the 24-year-old has had five different loan spells, most recently at Hull City.
Rangers were looking to take Rushworth of Brighton’s hands this summer in order to fix their goalkeeping issues.
However, according to Alex Crook via X (16 July), his transfer to Ibrox is now off, with Brighton not willing to sanction the deal.
Belgian outfit Union Saint Gilloise have also made an offer but goalkeeper is not keen on the move.
Another potential move for Rushworth is Coventry City, who are now showing strong interest.
Rangers must quickly sort out their goalkeeping problems
Rangers’ issues in goal was an area that plagued the latter part of their 2024/25 campaign.
Jack Butland’s poor performances eventually saw him dropped from the starting XI late in the season.
Now, with a massive campaign on the horizon, Martin must quickly fix this issue before it becomes a problem once more.

Ideally, a new keeper will be through the door for the second leg of the Champions League qualifiers against Panathinaikos.
With the deal for Rushworth clearly off, Martin needs to ensure this objective is complete, or Rangers could face an early Champions League exit.
