‘Marti Cifuentes to block Rangers deal’ as Conor Coady transfer on standby
Marti Cifuentes could potentially affect Rangers in their pursuit of Leicester City centre-back Conor Coady this transfer window.
The Foxes have reached an agreement with QPR for their former manager, and he’s expected to be announced at the King Power Stadium soon [Sky Sports News].
Coady’s move to Ibrox is on hold right now, with some complications arising regarding a deal for the 32-year-old.
Russell Martin could do with the ex-Wolves defender at the Glaswegian outfit as they face Panathinaikos in the Champions League qualifier, but an obstacle may emerge soon.

Coady could be part of Cifuentes plan at Leicester amid Rangers transfer interest
Cifuentes could potentially decide to keep Coady as part of his plans at Leicester, Keith Jackson says.
The Daily Record journalist wonders whether the prospective new Foxes head coach may give the Championship outfit second thoughts about selling the Englishman.
Jackson revealed that the 32-year-old’s possible move to Ibrox is on standby right now, but Martin definitely wants him at the Glaswegian outfit.

Speaking on Hotline Live (14 July), the journalist said: “Leicester are obviously bringing in a new manager. What if the new manager comes in and says, ‘Well, hold on a second here, I would rather be keeping Coady than letting him go’?
“But I certainly think it has been placed on pause for the time being while Leicester are sorting out one or two things at their end.
“Coady is absolutely the guy Martin wants to bring in.”
Martin to push for Coady transfer amid John Souttar exit links
Trabzonspor are showing interest in John Souttar this summer, and it remains to be seen what the Gers decide to do with him.
The Scotland international’s current contract at Ibrox expires at the end of next season, and now feels like the right time for the Light Blues to sell.
If the Bears can’t secure the 28-year-old’s future in G51, it would make sense to cash in on him while there’s still time.
Rangers should push for Coady’s arrival in the ongoing transfer window as they prepare for the upcoming campaign.
The Leicester centre-back, alongside Emmanuel Fernandez, Nasser Djiga and Clinton Nsiala, could form the core of Martin’s defensive options at the Gers.
It will be interesting to see how the England international’s situation unfolds in the East Midlands as the Ibrox faithful keep a close watch.
