Jackson reacts after ‘mad’ £12.9m Hamza Igamane transfer claim at Rangers

Hamza Igamane could potentially be affected this transfer window as Rangers have set a massive price tag on the striker.

LOSC Lille want to sign the Morocco international after agreeing on personal terms with him, but Ligue 1 outfit now need to deal with the Gers.

Igamane’s future at Ibrox is uncertain right now after missing the Light Blues’ first pre-season friendly against Club Brugge on 6 July, apparently due to visa issues.

The Glaswegian outfit signed the 22-year-old from AS FAR last summer for around £1.7million, and they now could potentially have the opportunity to make a massive profit, but their current demands seem overboard.

Rangers have every right to demand £12.9m for Igamane transfer

Lille must meet the Gers’ asking price for Igamane, otherwise he may stay, Keith Jackson says.

The Daily Record journalist feels the Light Blues are entitled to demand what they feel is right for the Moroccan centre-forward, with four years remaining on his contract at Ibrox.

Daniel Caw believes the Glaswegian outfit’s valuation of £12.9m is “mad” as he only recently started to get regular game time after a move from AS FAR last summer.

Speaking on Hotline Live (10 July), Jackson seemed to disagree and said: “The market is dictated by the level of interest, and the prices are set at that. It would appear they haven’t received any solid bid yet. So they’re perfectly entitled to put whatever price tag they want on him.

“He’s their property in terms that he’s got four more years to run on his contract. If the valuation isn’t met, then he will have to stay.”

Igamane transfer delay at Ibrox not ideal for Russell Martin

Russell Martin oversaw training at St George’s Park on Friday (11 July), with Igamane joining the group a bit later.

The Gers have an opportunity to cash in on Igamane with his sale to Lille, but it remains to be seen how much Kevin Thelwell is willing to accept from the Ligue 1 outfit.

Cyriel Dessers is also attracting interest from AEK Athens, giving the recruitment department at Ibrox a lot of work to do.

If Rangers lose Igamane and Dessers this summer, they will undoubtedly need to spend a significant sum to find quality replacements.

As long as their futures at the Gers remain uncertain, Martin has no idea who will be his first-choice number nine next season.

Ideally, the Light Blues should clarify their attacking situation before facing Panathinaikos in the Champions League qualifier on 22 July at home.

The Glaswegian outfit clearly need reinforcements up front, but how many depends on the departures.
