Jack Butland swift exit set as ‘Russell Martin ruthless with Rangers transfer’
Jack Butland may soon leave Rangers this transfer window as Russell Martin looks for reinforcements at Ibrox.
The Englishman joined the Gers in 2023 as a free agent and was impressive during his debut season in the Scottish Premiership.
Supporters expected Butland to be a key player at Ibrox for the Light Blues in the previous campaign, but multiple errors in goal saw the 32-year-old lose his place in the starting lineup.
Martin could potentially end the ex-Stoke City star’s stint at the Glaswegian outfit soon with a significant decision in G51.

Rangers to sell Butland after Carl Rushworth transfer from Brighton
If the Gers sign Brighton goalkeeper Carl Rushworth this summer, Butland could potentially leave, Jonny McFarlane says.
The Scottish journalist believes the 32-year-old could leave the Light Blues fairly quickly after the 24-year-old English shot-stopper’s possible switch to Ibrox.

McFarlane wants to see such ruthlessness from Martin at the Glaswegian outfit as they prepare for the upcoming campaign.
Speaking on The Rangers Review (11 July), the journalist said: “If it [transfer for Rushworth] does come off, you would have to think that Butland is not only going to leave, he’s going to leave fairly sharpish. It’s the kind of ruthlessness I want to see from a Rangers manager.”
Martin needs to make decision on Butland transfer soon
Martin took charge of the Gers against Club Brugge in their first pre-season friendly on 6 July, which ended in a 2-2 draw.
The draw at Ibrox against the Belgian outfit showed that the Light Blues have a lot of work to do before facing Panathinaikos in the Champions League qualifier on 22 July.
Fans are hoping to make it far in Europe under the Scottish manager, but it will undoubtedly be difficult for him against an impressive Greek outfit.
Rangers must be realistic about their prospects going into the upcoming campaign despite making some decent additions to the squad.
There are still several uncertainties at the Gers regarding the futures of key players like Hamza Igamane and Cyriel Dessers.
Butland is another star who will arguably need to prove his worth to get back the Ibrox faithful’s grace.
If the Glaswegian outfit do end up signing a new goalkeeper, that would seemingly indicate the ex-Manchester United ace’s end in G51, but only time will tell how his situation will unfold.
