Rangers set for Old Firm tussle as Bojan Miovski transfer enquiry made

Rangers are up against Celtic this transfer window to sign Girona striker Bojan Miovski.

Russell Martin’s team faced Club Brugge in their first pre-season friendly under the new head coach on 6 July, coming back from a two-goal deficit to draw 2-2 at Ibrox.

Hamza Igamane was unavailable amid links to LOSC Lille, but the Scottish manager has claimed that he will be back in training soon, along with Cyriel Dessers, who has also been linked with an exit from G51.

The Glaswegian outfit are still seemingly preparing to strengthen their attack ahead of next season, but will have to beat their Old Firm rivals to the new centre-forward’s signature.

Bundesliga clubs inquire about Miovski transfer as Rangers and Celtic in race

Bundesliga clubs Hamburg and Freiburg have inquired about Miovski amid interest from Rangers, according to Gol.

The news outlet reports (7 July) that an Old Firm tussle could be on the cards in the race for the North Macedonian ace, who has 33 international caps, as Celtic also have him on their radar.

It’s been claimed that the Light Blues want the 26-year-old, who signed for Girona from Aberdeen last summer, but Brendan Rodgers’ team have made no secret of their desire for the centre-forward.

The striker struggled in La Liga last season after some impressive years at the Dons, but he could be back in the Scottish Premiership soon, potentially at Ibrox.

Martin will need new striker at Ibrox after Igamane and Dessers exits

Igamane’s transfer to Lille seems to be on standby, but the Gers are expected to cash in on him this summer.

The Moroccan youngster could potentially make the Light Blues a hefty profit just a year after signing from AS FAR for a relatively minimal fee.

While the 22-year-old’s exit will undoubtedly be a big blow for Martin, the Glaswegian outfit will arguably be making the right choice by selling him.

AEK Athens could potentially move on from Dessers after refusing to match the asking price, but Rangers may still be without him at the end of the ongoing transfer window.

The Nigeria international was the Gers’ leading goalscorer last season, and his absence will evidently be felt.

Miovski has failed to fulfil his potential at Girona and may want to return to Scotland, where he consistently scored in the league.

The 26-year-old’s situation will be one to watch closely.
