49ers ‘have easiest Rangers call yet’ as fresh Dessers transfer talks planned
Rangers face a battle to keep hold of Cyriel Dessers this summer as the striker is heavily linked to a move away.
Dessers scored 29 goals for the Gers last season and could be keen on leaving after proving himself in Glasgow – even if some fans still have not been fully won over.
New Rangers boss Russell Martin has been busy in the transfer window, but the Nigerian international will be one player he is desperate to keep amid interest from AEK Athens.

AEK plan to speak with Rangers again in bid to sign Dessers
Dessers has become one of the few positives for Rangers in the last couple of seasons, netting 51 goals and providing 16 assists in just 109 appearances.
His departure would provide Martin with his first real challenge as Gers’ boss, with priorities shifting from improving the Blues’ defence.
Greek journalist Giannis Chorianopoulos reported on X (7 July) that 13-time Greek champions AEK Athens will contact Rangers again for Dessers.
He also stated that the Greek club are now considering other striker options after hitting a stumbling block in their negotiations with the 49ers.
The latest efforts are quite clear that they don’t have the reported £6million Rangers want, and so the 49ers and Andrew Cavenagh shouldn’t waste any more time with the negotiations.
The Blues have already rejected a £4.5m bid in recent weeks, and Dessers has already agreed on personal terms with AEK Athens, but Rangers can’t undervalue their star striker.
Dessers is under contract until 2027, and Gers are under no pressure to sell the striker, who could be crucial in Martin’s new era.
Martin will be ruthless should Dessers decide to leave
New Rangers boss Martin has already shown his ruthless side this summer.
The former Southampton manager has brought in the likes of Joe Rothwell and Max Aarons already, with some Rangers players set to be axed from the squad in the coming weeks.

Dessers risks ruining his reputation at Ibrox should he force a move away and the 49ers won’t shy away from finding Martin’s side a suitable replacement.
The Nigerian has a chance to help Rangers challenge Celtic this season and be on the right side of history.
