Martin personally praised after Rangers capture as Vardy deal could be next

Rangers are now active in the transfer market, with a couple of deals being agreed this week.

Emmanuel Fernandez has followed Joe Rothwell into Ibrox, and more signings could be set to follow soon.

Rangers are aiming for a huge squad rebuild this summer, but with pre-season beginning, they will need to move quickly in the market to prepare their squad for the upcoming campaign.

Russell Martin’s appointment has been greeted with scepticism, but he has now been praised for Rangers’ transfer business so far.

Martin praised amid Jamie Vardy links

With Fernandez following Max Aarons and Rothwell through the door at Rangers, more experienced signings could still arrive, and Jamie Vardy has now been linked.

Former BBC presenter Bobby Nwanze has praised Martin, and called on the manager to sign Vardy to continue these positive few days of signings.

He also claimed that the potential signing of Conor Coady was a positive one, and that Vardy could be the “icing on the cake” if the legendary striker was to arrive this summer.

Vardy – the Premier League’s Player of the Season in 2015-16 – left Leicester City at the end of last season, and is now a free agent, having embarked on an iconic Premier League career with the Foxes.

“Huge credit to the Rangers manager for the brilliant work in the transfer market this summer,” Nwanze said.

“We want more signings…Coady and Vardy? Vardy icing on the cake ?

“You can see there’s a clear plan to strengthen the squad and push for trophies. Buzzing to see how it all unfolds.”

Vardy could be a strong addition for Rangers

With Hamza Igamane headed for the exit door, Rangers will need to sign at least one centre-forward this summer, and Vardy could be a shrewd addition on a free.

Cyriel Dessers has also been linked with an exit despite finishing as the top scorer in the Scottish Premiership last season, and a lot of goals will need to be replaced.

Vardy could be the perfect replacement, alongside another younger forward, and would come with a wealth of goalscoring experience.

Despite Leicester’s struggles last season, Vardy still managed to score nine Premier League goals, and he could prove to be a valuable asset in front of goal in Scotland.

Rangers are now up and running in the window after a slow start, and several more additions will need to be made in the coming weeks.
