Paraag Marathe teases surprise new Rangers transfers in EGM reveal

Paraag Marathe has been discussing Rangers’ transfer plans at the 49ers Enterprises’ first Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM).

Andrew Cavenagh and Paraag Marathe spoke to shareholders on Monday (23 June), outlining their ambitions for a rebuild at Ibrox in the short and long term.

Rangers fans were excited about the takeover after a dismal season, but questions were instantly raised after a negative reaction to the appointment of Russell Martin as the new manager.

The Gers now face a hugely important summer transfer window as they aim to back Martin with new signings, and fans have received an exciting update on the plans in Glasgow.

Rangers need to drastically improve in the Scottish Premiership

As reported by Chris Jack (23 June), Marathe was asked which players Rangers are going to bring in, and the 47-year-old was coy in his response.

The 49ers Enterprises president stated that while Rangers’ transfer business will be kept “private,” they will aim to “surprise” fans with the players they bring in.

Rangers need to move fast in the transfer market

The Rangers squad has now returned to pre-season training, and Martin will soon take charge of his first friendly matches in the coming weeks.

Rangers will need to move quickly to bring in their main targets in time for the opening match against Club Brugge at Ibrox on 6 July.

Martin will be eager to implement his ideas as soon as possible. Therefore, he will need players through the door sooner rather than later.

Rangers have already been handed a blow as new signing Lyall Cameron has picked up a minor injury. However, the midfielder is only set to miss the first week of training following his arrival from Dundee.
