Rangers want Kwame Poku deal now as Vaclav Cerny transfer update emerges

Vaclav Cerny was a key man for Rangers this season.

The Wolfsburg loanee notched 12 goals and four assists in 33 matches in the Scottish Premiership in a brilliant personal campaign.

He was a rare shining light in a dismal campaign under both Philippe Clement and then interim boss Barry Ferguson.

The Czech international will return to the German club, but there was a hope that the Light Blues could complete a £5.5million deal.

Despite that, Kwame Poku looks to be next in line.

Poku could be Cerny replacement at Rangers

Russell Martin would have loved to have Cerny back next season, however, it may not happen.

The Rangers Review (9 June) claims that the chances of the Gers securing a permanent deal for the Czech star are unlikely.

It is stated that the Govan outfit are interested in Poku, who is out of contract with Peterborough this summer and scored 12 goals in League One.

The Scottish club have competition for his signature from Birmingham City, as well as French and German clubs.

Rangers would be a great move for Poku

If the Posh star chose to join Martin’s side, he would be almost guaranteed to start as they currently have a spot that is empty on the right flank.

Jack Harrison has been suggested as a possible target from Leeds, but there are question marks over his productivity after a poor two-year stint with Everton.

Poku would come to Ibrox fresh on the back of a campaign where he notched 20 contributions in 27 appearances in League One, and there is every chance that he could produce in Scotland.

At just 23, there is a huge likelihood that the Ghana star becomes a superstar with the Gers, if they can win the battle for his signature.

The 49ers and Co need to take risks to bridge the gap to Celtic and Poku would be a calculated one as his stock is only going to rise in the future.

There would be a compensation fee owed to the EFL outfit but that would be worth it, if Poku produces the goods immediately after he signed.
