Russell Martin will soon get to work bringing new players in at Rangers.

The 39-year-old was appointed as the Gers' successor to interim boss Barry Ferguson on 5 June and is set to lead a huge rebuild this summer.

The ex-Southampton man will be backed by the new majority ownership group, comprised of the 49ers Enterprises group and Andrew Cavenagh, who took a 51 per cent controlling stake in the Govan outfit on 30 May.

The former's links with Leeds United may come in handy, with Jack Harrison now named as a possible signing in the coming weeks from Elland Road.

Rangers to land Harrison transfer from Leeds

Harrison is widely expected to depart from the Whites after two seasons on loan away from the LS11 outfit in the Premier League.

Writing in the print edition of the Daily Record (9 June, page 46), Scott McDermott has predicted the possible dream starting XI of Martin at Ibrox.

The journalist states that Rangers need a new right winger, and their new connections with the Yorkshire outfit through Marathe could make Harrison a possible option.

Harrison transfer makes sense for 49ers at Rangers

Given the new relationship between the two clubs, a deal for the 28-year-old to move to Ibrox could make sense.

The ex-Manchester City academy star could be deemed surplus to requirements at Elland Road after he notched just four goals and three assists in 63 top-flight appearances in the last two seasons.

While he has struggled in the top tier of the English game, he could be the perfect solution for the Gers' attacking woes.

The quality of Scottish football could bring out the best in him, and he would be a creative asset in a dominant team, rather than one that is struggling towards the bottom end of the table, which is one of the reasons why he has struggled with Everton.

If the fee is right, or even if a loan is accepted, it could be a shrewd move for both parties and could signal the start of a very beneficial partnership between the two.
