Hamza Igamane ‘to hand in transfer request’ after shock Rangers development

Hamza Igamane could be on the move this summer after he was nowhere to be seen in Rangers’ recent encounter with Hibernian.

Rangers‘ season was over weeks ago, but off the back of their 2-2 draw away to Hibernian, the campaign has officially come to an end.

Quite frankly, the season is not one that will be remembered fondly, given their domestic shortcomings, though Rangers will take some pride from their impressive Europa League run.

However, all focus will now turn to the summer transfer window and the decisions that will need to be made within it, including that of the future of Igamane.

Rangers may be preparing for life without Igamane

There haven’t been many positives to emerge from the current campaign at Ibrox, though the form of Igamane in the earlier stages was certainly one of them.

Just about everything he touched turned to a goal for the Light Blues, but as soon as that touch started to dry up, the forward fell massively out of favour.

Fast forward to now, the once reliable goalscorer has become somewhat of a bit-part player, and the form of Cyriel Dessers has played a part in that.

However, Igamane was absent from the clash against Hibernian, and while Barry Ferguson hinted that he had a knock, there is cause for suspicion.

Igamane will want guarantees over playing time next season, and Rangers may not be able to offer him that, making it feasible that the 22-year-old could hand in a transfer request at Ibrox and seek greener pastures.

Ibrox need to witness change next season

Rangers need to be competing with Celtic for domestic trophies, and they have been miles away from doing that in the current campaign.

Not only will the managerial situation at Ibrox need addressing as a matter of urgency, but recruitment is going to be just as crucial.

If Igamane leaves, the Light Blues will need to act fast to replace him, ahead of what promises to be a hectic summer transfer window.
