Ally McCoist was stunned by "magic" Hamza Igamane in the 2-1 win for Rangers against Union Saint-Gilloise on Thursday.

The Gers beat the Belgians at Ibrox and had other results go in their favour on 30 January to secure automatic progression to the Europa League round of 16.

The Moroccan forward took down a long pass with an exquisite touch and found his way into the box before his cross came to nothing in the opening minutes, leaving McCoist stunned.

Speaking live on TNT Sports (30 January, 20:08), he said: "That was magic.

"The outside of the right boot, beautiful. Igamane's got that in his locker."

Hamza Igamane continues to shine for Rangers

The young striker has enjoyed a stunning rise to stardom since moving to Ibrox from his homeland club FAR Rabat in the summer.

He has usurped Cyriel Dessers and Danilo in the pecking order under Philippe Clement and his performances have attracted interest from the likes of Everton and Newcastle.

The Morocco youth international has scored 13 goals and notched three assists in 27 matches so far in his maiden campaign in Govan.

He has been a critical asset for the Gers this season and they will be hoping to keep hold of him in the final days of the winter transfer window.

Losing a player of Igamane's quality without having time to secure an adequate replacement would be a disaster for Clement, given the circumstances of the Bears season.

The Light Blues find themselves ten points behind arch-rivals Celtic in the Scottish Premiership and losing their star man would be a further setback.
