Barry Ferguson ‘right about Rangers’ as Davide Ancelotti hire ready
Davide Ancelotti could potentially replace Barry Ferguson at Ibrox after Rangers drew against Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership.
David Gray’s team hosted the Gers at Easter Road on Saturday (17 May), in what was the ex-midfielder’s last game in charge as interim manager.
Ancelotti is someone being eyed at Ibrox, as the takeover process at the Light Blues is close to being complete.
The Glaswegian outfit’s hierarchy have a massive decision to make on who the next permanent manager will be, and they’ll seemingly be smart to listen to Ferguson’s advice.
Rangers don’t need project manager like Ancelotti
Ancelotti looks like a project manager, which is something the Gers can’t afford, Michael Stewart says.
The former Hibernian ace feels Ferguson is right about the Light Blues needing someone capable of making progress instead of going through another transitional period.
Stewart dismisses the potential appointment of the Real Madrid assistant head coach at Ibrox, who has been heavily linked with the Glaswegian outfit recently.

Speaking on BBC Sportsound (17 May, 15:28), the Scotsman said: “It’s all well and good talking about projects, it comes again to signing the right players and having a clear vision of what they’re trying to do. I’m sure Rangers-minded people can handle finishing second next season if there was clear progress.
“The problem that’s happened this season is that it was viewed as a transitional season, but there was no transition happening other than regression.
“So I think Ferguson is absolutely spot on with what he said there. There needs to be no more projects. And with the greatest of respect to the rumour mill about Ancelotti as a manager, that strikes me as a project manager appointment.”

A new manager is not the only thing on the prospective new owners’ agenda, with player recruitment equally crucial if the Gers want to be competitive next season.
Ancelotti’s lack of experience may go against him when it comes to fan perception, who would arguably stick with Ferguson if a quality manager can’t be found.
