Igamane wanted by Ligue 1 high-flyers as Rangers face summer transfer blow

Hamza Igamane could be on the move from Rangers if the right offer comes in for him this summer.

All in all, this season has been one to forget for Rangers, though there has been the occasional cause for optimism at Ibrox.

One of the biggest bright sparks in an otherwise dismal campaign has been Igamane, whose early season form saw him lauded in Glasgow.

However, the forward has since lost his place in the side because of the form demonstrated by Cyriel Dessers, and clubs from all around Europe seem to be aware of the situation.

Liam Rosenior wants to bring Igamane to France

Igamane‘s form earlier in the campaign brought a lot of attention to Ibrox, with a whole host of clubs said to have been courting him ahead of a potential move.

Tottenham had been mooted as a potential landing spot for Igamane, but according to a report from French journalist Mohamed Toubache via X (16 May), Strasbourg – managed by Englishman Liam Rosenior – are the latest side to have shown an interest in signing him.

The Ligue 1 outfit may be able to offer Champions League football, which could prove to be more than what Rangers can offer if they replicate their European shortcoming from this season again in the next.

With Igamane finding regular game time hard to come by, it’s hard to rule out a summer exit for him, though his departure would leave the Gers in desperate need of attacking reinforcements once again.

Davide Ancelotti appointment could change Igamane fate

Davide Ancelotti has been heavily rumoured to take over from Barry Ferguson in the summer, and if that were to happen, he would likely have the last say on Igamane’s future.

Rangers will not want to sanction any sales, or signings for that matter, until they know who will be in charge, given the fact that his philosophy may change their plans.

However, the longer the managerial uncertainty goes on, the more their recruitment plans will be impacted, showcasing the need to speed up the process.
