Rangers ‘rinsed after multi-million transfer agreement’ at Ibrox

Rangers came back from two down to earn a 2-2 draw away at Aberdeen as the Scottish Premiership season edges to a close.

Barry Ferguson made several changes to his starting line-up, resting the majority of his first-team regulars in preparation for Europa League action on Thursday.

Some of those in the line-up highlighted the reasons why supporters at Ibrox will be looking forward in the hope of the 49ers Enterprises completing their takeover, starting a new era.

Rangers called out for transfer error

This season has been dismal for the Light Blues, who have been left with a monumental gap between themselves and Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

It looked as though it was going to be a familiar story against Aberdeen as the Gers went down to 10 men in the 40th minute, waiting until nearly the last kick for Ianis Hagi to rescue a point.

Although Philippe Clement was sacked from his role as manager, this was only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to those who are responsible for the Light Blues’ current position.

Nils Koppen was heavily involved in signings, with Nedim Bajrami once again anonymous at Pittodrie.

Writing on X while watching along, Tam McManus could not believe the Albanian, saying: “Rangers have had their pants pulled down paying £3.5m for Bajrami.

“Does nothing.”

Bajrami could exit Ibrox

As the summer transfer window quickly approaches, life could soon look very different at Ibrox as the 49ers Enterprises look to complete a takeover.

If the deal goes through, the Gers are likely to have a new manager and a bigger budget to work with going forward, meaning they may be less likely to make lacklustre signings.

This isn’t the first time that Bajrami has come under fire this season, with Kris Boyd also highlighting him as a disappointment in relation to his price tag.

With that in mind, given the 26-year-old’s contract at Ibrox runs until 2027, the new owners could see him as a player to cash in on during the summer transfer window.

The standards will be raised in Glasgow and if Bajrami is already failing to meet expectations, it feels unlikely that he will be able to rise to a bigger challenge.

Given the Albanian international was substituted for Ianis Hagi in the 67th minute having failed to have had much of an impact in the game, it seems safe to say he is not a big part of the future at Ibrox.

Whoever happens to be in charge of transfers at the end of the campaign has to be prepared to be ruthless in decision making and Bajrami is one who could find himself axed.
