Michael Stewart reacts to claims of Rangers signing Celtic ace Greg Taylor
Rangers have been linked with a move to sign Greg Taylor as his deal at Celtic runs out this summer.
Michael Stewart, who is usually critical of the Ibrox outfit, has chimed in with his thoughts on the potential move.
This comes after Kris Boyd suggested the Scotland left-back would be a good signing for his former side.

Stewart backs Rangers to sign Taylor this summer
Stewart believes that signing Taylor would actually be a good move for Rangers this summer.
Their current left-back options are Jefte and Ridvan Yilmaz, both of whom have struggled and are arguably not as good as the Celtic defender.
However, he’s unsure if the 27-year-old would fancy a move to Ibrox amid the rivalry between the two clubs.
Rangers | Appearances | Tackles won (per 90′) | Interceptions (per 90′) | Pass accuracy |
Jefte | 28 | 2 | 1.3 | 83.8% |
Speaking on the Premier Sports Scottish Football Social Club, Stewart said: “I actually floated this idea two or three weeks ago. From a Rangers perspective, yeah I would.
“I don’t know what Greg Taylor will be thinking, but from Rangers perspective, it’s a free transfer and he is in the Scotland squad so it’s another Scottish player which is a huge asset.
“I don’t know whether Greg Taylor would be interested but he’s a quality player. But for me he’s better than Jefte and he’s better than (Ridvan) Yilmaz. So I would do it.”
Taylor has won four league titles at Celtic but will be leaving the Parkhead outfit after the expiration of his deal.

Taylor’s academy days at Ibrox may be enough to tempt him
Gers should consider signing Taylor on a free transfer this summer due to his proven quality, positional need, and cost-effective value.
At 27, he offers experience and consistency, having played over 200 games for Celtic since 2019, winning 10 major trophies.
His reliability, averaging 35 appearances per season, and familiarity with the Scottish game make him a shrewd addition.
Rangers’ current left-back options aren’t ideal as Yilmaz has injury concerns and lacks attacking output, while Jefte’s rawness has seen him exposed defensively.
Taylor, a Scotland international, brings defensive solidity and offensive contribution.
With his contract expiring in June 2025, Rangers could secure him without a transfer fee, a boon amid financial constraints and the impending 49ers takeover.
Despite his Celtic ties, his Rangers youth background suggests he could handle the switch.
Taylor’s desire for regular football aligns with Gers’ need for a dependable starter, offering an upgrade without breaking the bank.
