Rangers ‘to submit’ Greg Taylor transfer bid after terrific admission

Celtic could potentially see Greg Taylor complete a sensational transfer to their Old FIrm rivals Rangers next summer.

Taylor’s switch to Ibrox has been suggested recently, with his current contract at Parkhead expiring at the end of the season.

Ridvan Yilmaz started for Barry Ferguson’s team at left-back as they beat Dundee 4-3 at Dens Park on 29 March.

Jefte has been the Light Blues’ first choice on the left-hand side of the defence for most of the season, but both defenders may leave in the coming months.

Celtic left-back Taylor would be terrific signing for Rangers

Taylor would be a terrific signing for the Bears in the upcoming transfer window, Michael Gannon says.

The Daily Record journalist believes the Gers should submit a “cheeky” bid to sign the 27-year-old Scotland international next summer.

Gannon feels the Light Blues may be in need of a left-back soon but raised doubts about whether the Celtic star would want to deal with the baggage of moving to the Old Firm rivals.

Speaking on Game On (4 April), the journalist said: “I think he’d be a terrific signing for Rangers. Can I see it? I think maybe the hassle… I don’t think he needs the grief that’d come along with it.

“You know the baggage that comes along with that kind of move. He’s a good, down-to-earth guy. You think, do we bother with that kind of nonsense?

“I can see him going down to England or something like America. Rangers should be thinking about a cheeky bid, that’s for sure because he’s a top player. And the left-back position that they could be looking at in the summer.”

Taylor transfer from Parkhead to Ibrox seems difficult

Chelsea were interested in Jefte during the winter transfer window after his impressive displays at the Gers during the first half of the campaign.

There was also talk of Yilmaz returning to Turkey recently, but in the end, the Light Blues managed to keep a hold of both of their left-backs.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see the defenders’ futures being topics of discussion at Ibrox next summer, with a massive restructuring on the cards at the Glaswegian outfit.

Rangers are in talks to be taken over by Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises, and the prospective new owners could potentially make sweeping changes at the Gers.

The Bears will arguably need to invest heavily in their squad to compete with Celtic in the upcoming campaign, and fans will hope the squad is reinforced appropriately in the coming months.

While Taylor would be a quality signing for the Bears due to his experience of winning silverware at the Hoops, his arrival looks unlikely.

The Old Firm is one of the fiercest rivalries, which would turn Taylor into a villain for half of Glasgow if he were to make the switch to Ibrox.

Whether the 27-year-old Scotland international will opt to cross that divide remains to be seen.
