Scottish FA may consider points deduction after Celtic v Rangers scenes – Exclusive
Rangers fans had plenty to celebrate as they saw their side pick up a famous 3-2 Old Firm win over Celtic on Sunday.
Nico Raskin and Mo Diomande gave Rangers a two-goal lead going into half-time, which Daizen Maeda helped reduce early in the second period.
However, with Celtic looking the side perhaps more likely to find a late winner, up popped Hamza Igamane with a goal to remember for the travelling hoards.
Rangers fans and players celebrated together at full-time upon the return of visiting supporters to this fixture, but one player may be in hot water over his celebration.

Diomande lands Rangers in trouble with Celtic Park celebration
Diomande celebrated his goal at Celtic Park by covering his face and pointing his fingers towards the Celtic fans, gesturing a gun symbol.
Rangers have previously been fined as a result of Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent doing similar celebrations against Celtic in 2020.
The Gers were hit with a £10,000 fine but strongly pleaded their innocence, saying at the time they were “astounded” by the charges.
Rangers may now face an even bigger financial penalty, while former FIFA official Keith Hackett mooted a possible points deduction if lessons are not learned.
Rangers’ last three meetings with Celtic | Result |
16/03/2025 (Scottish Premiership, A) | 2-3 W |
02/01/2025 (Scottish Premiership, H) | 3-0 W |
15/12/2024 (League Cup final) | 3-3 , Celtic won 5-4 on penalties |
“It is difficult for a club to control its players when they are filled with emotion having scored a goal,” Hackett exclusively told Ibrox News.
“However, this will be looked upon very seriously and the fines will no doubt increase. The Scottish FA will no doubt be discussing the size of the fine in order to stop this inappropriate celebration.
“I suggest the Scottish FA pay the club a visit and address the management and the players. There is the potential of points deductions, which may now be in their thoughts.”

Rangers claim Old Firm bragging rights
If it is just a fine heading Rangers’ way, that is something supporters will happily accept.
Each and every player stood up to the test on Sunday and gave those lucky enough to be in the away end – or indeed watching from afar – plenty to celebrate.
It would not be an Old Firm without some controversy, but hopefully this matter is quickly dealt with without the need of anything other than a fine.
