Exclusive: Dujon Sterling could face trouble after ‘Unacceptable’ Rangers comments v Celtic

Dujon Sterling almost became an immediate hero at Rangers following the 3-2 victory over Celtic at Parkhead on Sunday.

Despite goals from Nicolas Raskin, Mohamed Diomande and Hamza Igamane securing the three points for Barry Ferguson, others caught the eye.

Vaclav Cerny could be facing a ban after squirting water at Celtic fans, and Sterling took to Instagram to label Parkhead an expletive.

Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, Keith Hackett admits that Sterling could face trouble after his “unacceptable” comments, but it could take time.

The ex-FIFA official admits that there will be many complaints to deal with for the Scottish FA, with larger issues taking priority at Hampden.

“Clearly, there is a huge history between these clubs and the Scottish FA will trawl through a fairly large amount of complaints and social media rants,” Hackett said.

“Given the time available before the next game, they will deal with what they consider to be the bigger issues that they find.

“These comments even with a degree of euphoria are frankly unacceptable. He could find himself in trouble.”

Rangers flying under Ferguson

Despite it being too little, too late, you have to enjoy these moments.

Ferguson became the first manager in the last 10 years to win their first Old Firm game in charge and actually hands Rangers the better record in those domestic games this season.

That only shows where the issues are though, with the Bears shocking away record at the start of the season and inability to break teams down screaming out.

When they are allowed to sit back and counter-attack, there is nobody better in Scotland than Rangers, as the Europa League finds out most weeks.

Athletic Bilbao are next up in the quarter-finals, and that should suit Ferguson and the Light Blues perfectly, as they look to progress even further.

Sterling will hope to avoid any punishment for his comments, with fans loving the passion finally on show from their players at Ibrox.

Ferguson will be looking to bring his squad back down to earth as soon as possible, though, as some huge games still remain in the coming weeks.
