Philippe Clement ‘to survive’ Rangers sack as Ibrox ‘alarm bells ring’

Philippe Clement will potentially survive being sacked at Rangers as alarm bells ring at Ibrox.

Patrick Stewart has been urged to fire Clement as things have gone from bad to worse at the Gers throughout the season.

The Light Blues somehow lost 1-0 to Queen’s Park in the Scottish Cup at Ibrox on Sunday (9 February), and the fans’ ire has reached a boiling point.

But it looks like Clement will survive the sack at Ibrox as an eye-watering £1.2million will be required to dismiss him (The Scottish Sun).

Philippe Clement to survive Rangers sack after Queen’s Park loss

It looks like Clement won’t be sacked despite losing to Queen’s Park, Mark Guidi says.

The Scottish journalist believes the Belgian manager would have been relieved of his duties in previous eras after such a damaging defeat.

Guidi is taken aback and alarmed by the situation, as he termed the 50-year-old head coach’s continuity unacceptable.

Speaking on the Go Radio Football Show (10 February), the journalist said: “In any other era, whether it be Celtic or Rangers, Clement would have been sacked. His agent would have been in; they would have thrashed out the terms of the deal. All would have been laid out anyway. It would have been signed off.

“The fact that he’s still in a job, I think, sends alarm bells ringing of where they are right now as a football club. That shouldn’t be acceptable.

“It looks like Clement will survive. And I’m taken aback by that.”

Philippe Clement sack inevitable before end of season

Rangers will inevitably get rid of Clement before the end of the season if things somehow get worse.

The Ibrox faithful will be looking at Stewart and the rest of the boardroom to make swift changes.

While finances may be tight at the Gers, the situation at the Light Blues has become untenable as supporters have turned against the Belgian manager.

If decisions aren’t made, the fans will likely express their discontent with the newly hired board members, which might force them to take action.

Even if the former Monaco boss does well in the Europa League, it seems unlikely he will last at the Bears beyond this season.

The hierarchy could be looking to keep Clement as long as they are alive in the Europa League.

In the long term, the Glaswegian outfit will have to make the tough call and find Clement’s replacement, as there is too much negativity around him.

The Gers are in a tough spot as they have nothing left to play for domestically, deciding to stick with the former Monaco boss is baffling.
