Philippe Clement could finally be falling towards the sack at Rangers.

After being on thin ice multiple times this season already, the manager crashed through it with the shocking embarrassment of a 1-0 defeat to Queen's Park in the Scottish Cup at Ibrox.

Patrick Stewart previously backed Clement but insisted that results needed to improve, with the new CEO now backing himself into a corner after a recent admission.

Rangers ready to sack Philippe Clement

Writing for the Scottish Daily Mail in its print edition on Tuesday (pg 70, 11 February), Steven Donn says that the Ibrox board have the money to sack Clement now.

"Rangers CEO Patrick Stewart previously claimed that finances would not dictate whether Clement survived in the hotseat, so the money is apparently there if they decide enough is enough.

"So really, the only question the Ibrox board should ask is: do they believe Clement is the right man in the long term?"

Patrick Stewart to announce Philippe Clement sack

After his arrival in mid-December, it falls on the shoulders of Stewart to make this call.

With Fraser Thornton also in place as chairman, there are big decisions to be made at Ibrox ahead of the Scottish Premiership clash against Hearts.

Clement may not be in the dugout at Tynecastle on 16 February.

After refusing to resign, it is over to Stewart and the Ibrox board to take the decision out of the managers' hands and make sure this experiment is finished.

A couple of odd results can be accepted, but a huge accept to follow the domination of Celtic and shocking away form in the Scottish Premiership is not good enough at any level, never mind at Rangers.

Clement clearly cannot see the failure in front of his eyes, and if a defeat to mid-table Scottish Championship opposition doesn't shine that bright, he has clearly lost the plot in Govan.

Everyone understands that you cannot keep just sacking managers until real investment is given to change things around, but Clement has used all the lives he has now and it is time to start over again.

Something dramatic will need to happen to change the mind of any fan at Ibrox, and if the money isn't there to sack him, that needs to be said right now.
