Cyriel Dessers transfer: Rangers to ‘command fair fee’ after agent reveal

Rangers could potentially cash in on Cyriel Dessers after his agent’s admission regarding a transfer in the winter window.

The Nigerian striker’s representative recently revealed that 10 teams had expressed interest in signing him before the 3 February deadline.

Philippe Clement had started to lose faith in the 30-year-old after a poor start to the season, but the centre-forward has returned to the starting lineup in the last few matches.

The decision to keep Dessers until the end of the campaign was sensible, given Hamza Igamane’s recent struggles and Danilo’s fitness issues.

Rangers to cash in on Cyriel Desser

In the coming months, the Light Blues could likely command a fair price for the former Cremonese star, Billy Dodds says.

The Scottish manager believes that, given all the talk about the Gers’ finances, the 30-year-old’s situation could be worth monitoring.

Dodds feels Rangers were monitoring the market for offers as the Nigerian ace’s agent looked for an exit route.

Speaking on the Go Radio Football Show (7 February), the 56-year-old said: “I think he’s one Rangers player, because you always talk about the finances at the club, who would command a fair fee. I think Rangers were probably sussing out the market, and I know his agent was as well. That’s why the 10 teams came up.”

Cyriel Dessers to be sold at Ibrox next summer

Dessers looked on his way out of Ibrox a few weeks back, but some impressive performances have seen him return to Clement’s plans.

While the supporters have booed the striker on occasions, it doesn’t seem to have affected his confidence.

The fans will now be delighted to see the Nigerian ace getting back to his best, considering there’s a dearth of number nine’s in the squad.

Danilo’s injury has been frustrating as he was slowly starting to make his mark at the Bears after missing the start of the campaign.

Igamane’s emergence has been an apparent turning point in the Light Blues’ season, but the Moroccan ace seems to be under pressure as of late after struggling to make an impact.

The Glaswegian outfit will evidently hope Dessers can keep his form until the summer to increase the asking price.

It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the 30-year-old.
