Ianis Hagi contract: Rangers to ‘work hard’ for new Ibrox deal after ‘mistakes’
Rangers should work hard on offering Ianis Hagi a new contract at Ibrox, Keith Jackson says.
The Daily Record journalist believes the Gers have made mistakes in the past by allowing players like Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos to leave for nothing.
Hagi’s current contract expires at the end of the season, and Jackson wants the Light Blues to do everything in their power to keep him.
Speaking on Hotline Live (2 February), the journalist said: “[Hagi] is out of contract at the end of the season. They’ve just allowed the likes of Ryan Kent and Morelos to leave.
“Hagi is a talent. I think they should be shifting heaven and earth to put a contract in front of that boy. Otherwise, they’re making the same mistakes all over again.”
Rangers should offer Ianis Hagi new contract
The Bears should definitely convince the Romanian ace to stay at Ibrox beyond this season, considering his impact in the current campaign.
While the 26-year-old was left out of the squad at the start of the season, he has become a key player for Philippe Clement in recent weeks.
Hagi scored a brace as the Glaswegian outfit beat Ross County 4-0 at home in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday (2 February).
Rangers must think about where they want to be in the upcoming campaign, and if competing against Celtic is the goal, the Romanian playmaker is seemingly someone who deserves a new contract.
Clement has been able to get the best out of his team after a poor start to the season, with the 26-year-old playing a key role in the Gers’ resurgence.
Hagi looks at his best on the left-hand side of the attack, a position in which the likes of Nedim Bajrami have failed to make much of an impact.
Will the Light Blues secure the playmaker’s future? The Ibrox faithful will hope so.
In other Rangers news, Clement is settled as a late new transfer update has been dropped.
