Zak Lovelace injury news emerges ahead of possible Rangers transfer
Philippe Clement has confirmed that Zak Lovelace was left out of the Rangers squad against Ross County due to injury.
The attacker has been linked with an Ibrox exit in the winter transfer window with a return to Championship side Millwall mooted before the 3 February deadline [NewsAtDen, 1 February].
Lovelace has played four times for the Gers this season and while a move could still be on the cards, it won’t be today, even though he was left out of the squad.
Four Lads Had A Dream shared the news via their X account (2 February) to help clarify the situation.
“Manager confirms Zak Lovelace was not in the squad today because he had an injection on his toe yesterday,” they wrote.
“Without that, he would have been on the bench and involved today.”
Rangers cannot allow Zak Lovelace to leave tomorrow
The winter transfer window was supposed to be a month of Rangers strengthening their ranks rather than weakening them.
While the departures of players such as Rabbi Matondo and Kieran Dowell were to be expected after their lack of involvement this season, it does feel like it wouldn’t make much sense to allow 19-year-old Lovelace to exit Ibrox.
He’s appeared for Rangers four times this season and while he wasn’t the best player on the pitch by any means, it’s clear that he has a lot of potential.

Lovelace has plenty of qualities that could be of use to Clement and his men and while it could take him some time to get up to the standards of someone such as Vaclav Cerny, it feels like he’d be worth the time investment.
Only time will tell what the future holds for the youngster but on paper, it seems silly for Clement to be thinking about letting him exit at the moment.
