Robin Propper caught in Rangers ‘Howler’ live on BBC v Ross County

Steven Thompson has slammed Robin Propper after he was involved in a Rangers “howler” in the 4-0 win over Ross County on Sunday.

The defender was brought on in the second half and despite only being on the pitch for 28 minutes of the game, he managed to smash the ball out of play on two occasions.

The gap between Rangers and first-placed Celtic currently sits at 10 points but the Bhoys do have a game in hand over the Gers.

Speaking live on BBC Radio Scotland, (2 February, 16:42 pm), Thompson and Thomas Duncan shared their thoughts on Propper’s pass.

“Deary me that’s a second one,” Thompson said.

To which Duncan replied: “That’s another howler, straight out of the park from Robin Propper for the second time since coming on in the second half.”

Robin Propper needs to step things up at Rangers

Propper was one of the Gers’ star signings in the summer with the Dutchman coming in to replace Conor Goldson.

While Philippe Clement and Nils Koppen both thought the former FC Twente captain would be an upgrade on the Englishman, it’s been made abundantly clear that the centre-back isn’t cut out for the rigours of the Scottish Premiership.

One of the Gers’ main problems this season has been the lack of cover that they’ve had for their defensive line.

Although injuries will have no doubt played a massive part in the Ibrox outfit’s form this season, they brought a lot of their woes onto themselves when they started the season in second gear.

There’s still plenty of the season left to go with Clement’s men still in the Europa League but unless players such as Propper can show they have what it takes, it’s hard to see how they’ll end up doing much this term.

In other Rangers news, Zak Lovelace could be finished at Ibrox after what Philippe Clement did against Ross County.
