Vaclav Cerny deadline day update at Rangers amid £6.75m permanent news

Wolfsburg will not recall Vaclav Cerny from Rangers before the winter transfer window closes on Monday, according to the Scottish Sun.

The newspaper reported via their print edition on Saturday (1 February, back page and page 69) that Wolfsburg have decided they will not be terminating any of their loanees’ deals this winter.

Cerny, 27, has been in good form since arriving at Ibrox in the summer, scoring 13 goals and supplying seven assists in 35 appearances across all competitions.

However, it remains to be seen if the Czechia international will stay put in Govan after his loan spell ends because the Scottish Sun claims Wolfsburg have told Rangers they want £6.75million for a permanent agreement.

The Bundesliga club reportedly wants the money to help fund a summer rebuild.

There’s definitely a chance that Rangers will be able to afford that.

However, it could mean losing one or two of their high-value players.

Jefte has recently been linked with a move to Chelsea [Rangers Review] and due to the way they’ve spent money under Todd Boehly’s ownership, there’s every chance they’ll pay over the odds for the young left-back.

Hamza Igamane is another one who could fetch a lot of cash for the Light Blues, who’ll no doubt want to avoid making the same mistakes they did over and over again by failing to accept bits for Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent when they were at their peak values.

TeamTalk claims the Scottish Premiership giants will demand £25million for Moroccan hotshot Igamane, who has burst onto the scene at Ibrox this season.

It’ll be a bold decision to sell him after just one season but Igamane’s form is still a tiny bit inconsistent and there are also no suggestions he has a bad attitude. He’s definitely worth sticking with for another year to maximise that value even more.

The big question is whether Cerny is worth £6.75 million.

Rangers might be able to whittle it down in negotiations but this is a forward who’s doing well in Scotland and is at what should be the peak of his career.

If they can get it down to somewhere between £4million and £5million, go for it.
